On the old Pygmy Island I remained mostly anonymous. In an effort to share with my fellow pygmies below are a couple of my video submissions. Since I am posting them on a public forum feel free to fire away with your feedback. I will tell you I did get the Big Kahuna of casting to watch both and we discussed them.
The first video was my submission for S27. I had two separate casting people give me two completely opposite opinions about the video.
The second video was my submission for S31.
After I spoke with Lynne the one thing that stuck with me most was she told me I should play up the Jersey thing. (She claimed I have a Jersey accent.) So I filmed this and resubmitted it …

Jeff so far I only watched the first one... and let me tell you that I heard you had a beautiful organ. hahahaah
I liked it more as it progressed, but I didn't like that your eye contact was off for a lot of the video...
Confidence is very sexy... look right into that camera as if it is a person. Eye to eye... make them cry.
I did like a lot of what you were saying... but I would like it better with strong eye contact and a little of that NY swagger. Just remember the Patriots won again... remember that the Red Sox just stole your Cuban... give us that swagger.

1st video I stopped watching a few seconds in...what does that crap about selling an organ say about who you are...NOTHING.....I WANTED TO SLAP YOU IN THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD....REPEATEDLY~!!!
2nd video....wtf....first off I do not know you but I am certain that IS NOT YOU ....you do not go there and sit and look like that....you were trying to be something you are NOT~......I could not watch it and stopped it very quickly into it.~....again I wanted to take that hat off your head and beat you with it...until you promised to NEVER do another video like that~!!!
3rd video....Nooooooooooo please just STOP.....STOPPPPPPPPP.......POOR LYNNE....SHE MUST HAVE WHIPLASH FROM SHAKING HER HEAD NO REPEATEDLY.....
LET ME EXPLAIN TO YOU THE CORRECT WAY TO DO A VIDEO....
just sit down and talk about you...what your life is like....what you can handle and can not handle....what makes you pissed off...understand....what makes you tick....or tock.....who are you....what is inside you that some might not know....what people say about you....what is unique about you ...if anything....look at the camera as if you are sitting right infront of them at your house....talk to them ...do not rehearse just be you....
I will not sugar coat my words to make you smile and say awe.....goooy goooy gum drops she likes me.....nope....I will tell you that it bored me to death and you did not tell them who you are ....there are no organs to sell on Survivor....so stop....let them see the real you....the angry you....the pissed off you...the happy family man if you are you....got it~~~~

Take what I said to heart and think about who you are...

I think this was a piggy video I did for the Sears video challenge or something. Not really intended to be a real app vid.
And a clip I never used for anything. BTW, this truck is now 25 years old, has under 52,000 miles on it, and drives like new. I should get something new but I'm too much of a tight-wad to get rid of something that is in such good shape even if it is a death trap with no air bags and no headrests to speak of.

Jeff, I actually like the hat. I like you taking the filming out on location. I still get the disconnect a bit when you look away during your delivery. I think you get a little closer to the camera during the filming of certain parts and show your passion a little.
The Jersey thing was a little too over the top... I think you can slip that in with swagger and a couple of references of ... I don't know, growing up in Jersey has taut me how to fight for respect, to fight for what I want. Brag on your sports team or compare yourself to someone from the area (Bruce?)... but that segment was just too obvious that you were pushing the Jersey thing.
You have a great voice and calm delivery... When you say "you would get in Jeff's face"... It is hard to believe because it is not animated enough for me. I would relax and just bring it to the camera as you would in front of the panel... because they interview over and over again to make sure you are all that you are. I believe what you are saying is true about yourself, you have sincerity, but you have to give some examples of the bad ass side that you say that you are.
No offense, just some insights from someone viewing. I have never made it on any show so take it for what it is worth. Lynne has already given you her viewpoint, and hers is all that matters.
Karen is harsh, but she knows how to bring out the "real" you. I have seen it work for several on the board.

I actually wanted this thread to be a place for people who were told that they couldn't upload a video on the application site because they have a video on file.. kinda like... don't call us, we'll call you. Well sometimes people change, their demeanor changes, their life events change them and maybe dammit they want to show a new side of themselves. So, instead of using this thread for you to post your videos that you wish SEG would still look at. I created a "members video gallery" Of course I filled mine up with funny videos, but create a thread there for yourself and post your latest application video there. Maybe SEG will stop by and take a look. They used to cruise by often. The thread is set up so nobody can reply to your posts other than yourself, so your videos will stay uncluttered.

My words are a relaxing wonderful bubble bath with candles and wine compared to hers...
so ....
